Public Education

Public education is one of the most important parts of the District’s IPM (integrated pest management) program. Without the help of residents, it would be impossible for the District to achieve its mission.

District Tours

Would you like to learn more about mosquito and vector control in San Mateo County? Sign up for a tour of the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District facilities in Burlingame. Topics covered will include:

Presentations

Community groups and organizations can ask for a customized presentation about a variety of topics and services, including:

An assortment of bug-themed children's books and small bug toys

School Programs

Age-appropriate curricula for students of all ages are presented by District staff. Staff are currently available for in-person or remote presentations (including remote field trips to visit our laboratory!).

Scout education

We are happy to work with local scouting troops, particulary for tick education. Our Public Health Education and Outreach Officer, Rachel, is not currently a Merit Badge Counselor for Insect Study for Scouts of America, but is available to help scouts prepare the various requirements to complete the badge (scouts will have to have a MBC sign off). Door-to-Door Outreach

Our staff conduct door-to-door outreach and property visits during certain times of year to raise awareness of District services.
